One of the biggest complaints we are hearing from our clients these days is they can't find good staff to work for them. Has hiring new workforce become the new Gorilla Warfare? Here are a couple of suggestions we've mentioned to our clients that are struggling to find new talent at their companies:
1. Be sure to do a compensation study for the position you are seeking filled. This will allow you to understand what the competition is offering in terms of wages and benefits.
2. Get creative and consider implementing a bonus pool or gift pool for new and existing hires. This will be an additional cost of course, but may help to attract and retain talent.
3. Think like a gorilla! Strike out into new territory to recruit staff where they shop and visit. Go to where your typical employee might visit like a grocery store or other entertainment facility and hand out flyers.
4. If you can, consider working with staff that live outside of your general area. If the existing staff was able to work from home during covid, then you may be able to hire someone to work from home 100% of the time!
5. Consider outsourcing some of the tasks that you just can't hire for, like bill payments, collections, HR, to third parties and shed the payroll or recruiting all together.
6. Reach out to temporary agencies or headhunters when needed.
